I saw an elephant surfing today
I'll race you through the waves, he cried He jumped on his surfboard and sailed away As I gaped at the view before my eyes His trunk held steady, his stance was firm As he leaned into the force He was graceful and sporty and ready to learn And he balanced right through the course When a wave rose up, he turned a high flip Landing right back down on his board He steadied himself and waved his trunk With a style that he could afford Next he balanced with one leg stretched back His trunk stretched out to the front In an almost dainty arabesque Oh what an incredible stunt As he came into sight the crowd cheered him on Their excitement held no bounds An elephant on a surfboard, they cried That’s something that really astounds I saw an elephant surfing today He jumped on his surfboard and sailed out to sea Keep your eyes on the board, I heard him say And in no time at all you will look just like me. © Julie Simpson - All Rights Reserved
Mr Shooster’s Rooster
Crowed throughout the day He raised his head He opened his beak And cock-a-doodle……neigh…… Neigh? Neigh? Neigh is not what roosters say This rooster’s crow has gone astray He thinks he is a horse, you say? We’ll check him right away They took him for a crowing test They looked right down his throat They told him ‘crow’ But it came out 'neigh’ And the doctors made a note They said to Mr Shooster Your rooster’s not quite right We think that he has horses neigh He might have caught it yesterday He doesn’t look too bright They sat the rooster on his perch And fed him oats and bran They sprayed his throat With horseshoe malt And cooled him with a fan The rooster jerked Then coughed and screeched And then he turned a flip He coughed again, his eyes were wild And then he lost his grip He swung out wide and flipped again And then his face turned blue He raised his head He opened his beak and Cock-a-doodle-dooooooo The cake it was a wondrous thing,
Cooked to perfection it’s true. Next came a jammy centre, And frosting to give it a hue. Marshmallows adorned it’s topping, The taste a strawberry delight, The birthday boy had his every wish, Happy Birthday, they cried, have a bite |
